Delivering photographic fine art
Our client are an online art start-up offering photographic and fine art prints. They make it easier for customers to access and purchase quality, limited edition art at affordable prices through their website. Customers are able to view and choose pieces online without having to visit a physical gallery and they can browse and buy art at any time that suits them. They also have a number of frame supplier partners which allows them to upsell their art to include frames.

The need for multi-purpose software solution
While our client wanted Ardent to develop a gallery portal to make browsing, selecting and purchasing art an enjoyable experience, the company also wanted the portal to have a sophisticated level of functionality that far extended the gallery concept.
They had a list of features that they wanted, including a robust Content Management System that would enable them to have total control of their inventory. They also wanted to integrate a Shopping Cart and Payment Gateway so that customers would experience seamless purchasing. In addition, our client requested the functionality to create and manage sub-sites via the main portal for different themes and events. This would allow them to highlight different collections throughout the year or to organise online viewings and launches, similar to traditional bricks and mortar galleries. They also needed to be able to upsell their products with frames from their partner companies.

A fully integrated gallery portal for seamless customer experience
Ardent created a sophisticated fine art eCommerce software solution that incorporated a CMS system, the ability to create subsites as well as a secure payment gateway. We created the CMS system that gave the users the ability to create as many subsites as they required as it allowed the business to respond quickly to sales spikes and create flash offers. The CMS also enabled the staff to manage the app’s content and the art products within their inventory. In addition, we integrated a secure payment gateway that guarantees smooth financial transactions and a seamless purchasing experience for the end customer. Ardents experienced engineers also developed an analytic and reporting tool to enable the software to generate reports that could provide meaningful insight and understanding of products and sales performance.

Lastly, we also ensured that the end customers were able to order frames from our client’s frame supplier partners that were located closest to their location. This meant that once the order was processed, the artwork would be sent to the frame supplier to get framed, and then it would be shipped to the end customer. Our experienced engineers were able to provide seamless software that could automate the process of finding the closest frame supplier in order for our client to benefit from upselling and the end customer to get a ‘ready to go up’ piece of art.
